You're Invited to the Lighting of the Governor’s Mansion Tree

The entire state of Georgia is invited to the official tree lighting at the Georgia Governor’s Mansion located at 391 West Paces Ferry Road. However, this year, holding true to Georgia’s pledge to be greener, the tree will be topped with an energy-efficient star.

Using recycled materials and LED lighting, the twinkle spectators will enjoy a light that will be a little kinder to our environment

The tree topper was ordered to replace the previous occupant, which – according to officials at the Georgia Building Authority – had simply “worn out.” The new star was created using aluminum and acrylics.

This year’s Christmas tree is a 42-foot Cedar donated by a family from Covington, Ga. Following tradition, the tree will be decorated in an array of crystal white lights. The Georgia Building Authority, in charge of the decorating process, begins its work on Nov. 29th and will have the tree ready for its official debut on Dec.
