ICE operation nets 92 arrests in Georgia

ATLANTA -- U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents arrested 92 convicted criminals in Georgia -- and over 2,000 nationwide -- in the course of five days.

It was part of operation "Cross Check", which focused on the arrests of public safety threats.

Those arrested are from 94 countries and have a wide array of criminal convictions. One significant arrest of a Mexican citizen resulted in nine weapons being taken off the streets of Covington, Ga.

Another, a Jamaican citizen arrested in Atlanta, had a prior conviction of breaking and entering, larceny, speeding to elude arrest and assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer.

ICE officials will now work to remove those arrested from the country.
