COVINGTON | Eastside High DE commits to Louisville | News
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- (The Courier-Journal) The University of Louisville landed a commitment from one of the top defensive ends in Georgia on Tuesday night.
Sheldon Rankins of Covington Eastside High committed to the Cardinals during an in-home visit. The 6-foot-3 255-pounder had 26 scholarship offers, including ones from Nebraska, Stanford and Kentucky.
"They brought coaches in and spent time with my family," Rankins told an Atlanta paper.
"I was already leaning towards Louisville. I had heard from other people that they might move me inside to defensive tackle, but they assured me that I'm their guy at defensive end. That's all I needed to hear."
"I made it look like I was going to the bathroom, but I went and got this Louisville hat I had already bought. I came back out with the hat on, and everybody went crazy after that."
Rankins missed the final two games of his senior season with an injury but still managed to rack up 50 tackles, including 17 for a loss and 10 sacks.
