Walmart Hiring Center to bring 200 jobs to Covington

COVINGTON, Ga. -- Walmart will announce plans Thursday to bring a new Supercenter and temporary Hiring Center to Newton County, creating 200 jobs.

The new store will go up at 4200 Salem Road, while the Hiring Center will be hosted by Prospect United Methodist Church and is scheduled to open next Monday, Dec. 19.

Additional details about the 200 jobs are forthcoming.

Prospect United Methodist Church is located at 6752 Highway 212.

Dollar volume growth was 8.1 percent, while transaction growth was 6.1 percent in November.

COVINGTON, Ga. -- For Newton and Rockdale residents, getting a flu shot this year will be as simple as rolling down a car window and rolling up your sleeve.

Health departments in both counties will host a two-day drive-thru flu shot clinic that will provide free vaccinations to the first 500 participants.

"Not only are we vaccinating the community from the seasonal flu, but we are using this as a great opportunity to exercise our ability to quickly and efficiently administer vaccinations to the public in the event of a widespread public health crisis, such as pandemic influenza," said Dr. Lloyd Hofer, district health director for the Gwinnett, Newton and Rockdale County Health Departments.
