Man tells 911 he killed two people

COVINGTON, Ga. -- One man is in custody after two people were found dead in a home in Covington on Thursday afternoon. A man and a woman were found dead at a home on Helm Drive, according to the Newton County Sheriff's Office.

Newton County Sheriff's Deputy Felicia Jefferson said they received a 911 call at about 4:20 p.m., with the male caller saying he had shot two relatives at the Helm Drive address. When Deputies arrived at the home the man came out of the house and turned himself in.

When Deputies went inside the home they found two bodies. "They're family members," Jefferson said. "That's all we're releasing at this time. This was a domestic double homicide."

Neighbors told 11 Alive's Kevin Rowson that four people live in the home, a father and mother, a son who is 20 and a daughter who is 19. Several neighbors said they saw a man they know as the father being arrested.

Investigators would only say the two victims werre a male and female adult.

Ricardo Boneparte lives across the street from the home and said he knows the family. "I still can't believe it that something this horrible just happened to people that you know," he said.

Jefferson said Deputies have answered calls from the home three times but was not specific about the nature of those calls.
