Newton Co. authorities: Remains of person missing since 2013 found
News

NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Remains found in Newton County, Saturday, belong to a man missing for over two years county authorities have confirmed.

The find came after the Newton County Sheriff's Office in partnership with the Community United Effort (CUE) Center for Missing Persons expanded their search for the man.

Robert "Bobby" Weaver III went missing on Sept. 5, 2013 while walking his dog on Highway 143 near Stone Road.

Since then, deputies and investigators conducted multiple searches in the area hoping to find Weaver but came back empty handed.

But that all changed on Saturday around 1:30 p.m. when, about a mile from where he was last seen, authorities found what is believed to be Weaver's body in a thicket.

Personal affects on the body and identifying documents were used to provide a preliminary identity to the body.

Since then, the body has been thoroughly examined and Newton County authorities said that no foul play has been detected though no medically identifiable cause of death has been determined.
